Damn, If it Ain't Time for Southside Film Festival

June 13, 2007 / by southsidefilm

the Festival is officially one week away, but already I find my body oozing with pent up energy and ideas racing through my head like Speedy Gonzales on Amphetamines while hepped up on two morning pots of coffee. Raging, roaring, and if this shit ain't messing with my head enough, I'm watching late night TV and I SWEAR Ian Hunter, of the 70's crash and burners Mott the Hoople ("All the Young Dudes" co-written with Bowie), is on Craig Ferguson, backed by a string orchestra. Am I now hallucinating on this oncoming insomnia. This just can't be good.

My Festival energies are up as my friends Mel Halbach and Clayton Farr have arrived from Salt Lake, in preparation for Thursday's start to the Documentary Filmmaking Workshop. This is the same class I blogged about back in October and during past Festivals. Mel and Clayton run FilmTreks, an organization devoted to teaching the Craft and Art of Documentary Filmmaking. They are great, and have certainly become an asset to our Festival and an annual highlight in my life. The start of the Doc Workshop has become a Festival kick start for me each year.

Well the fest is here, and again I begin the struggle to force the body into a state of rest. But tomorrow's another day. OH, actually today's another day. Oh, actually Today is another day but a day other than today... maybe it's time to rest.. time to rest... time to ressssss

later

until then.. butter up that popcorn. turn down them lights, and crank up the projector baby, SouthSide kicks into gear this week
