And the Day Built into a Frenzy ...

June 23, 2007 / by southsidefilm

After a brief dinner break, it was back to the grindstone, and I rushed off to be sure the venues were in good shape, and then I walked over to Sinclair to intro Rory Kennedy's "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib". "Ghosts" was preceded by one of my favorite films at this year's Festival: Pascal Magnin's "Contrecoup". I feel responsible for this "Ghosts of Abu Ghraib", especially since Rory was unable to attend due to her expecting her first child. I promised I'd give her film good representation, and Damn it... I will. It's quite a film, and I'm tickled that Rory offered to screen at our Festival. Guess that "personal touch" helps, and it certainly didn't hurt that I met up with Rory when she premiered at Sundance this year. Success!

After my intro at Sinclair I managed to get back to Packard Lab, and the "Veritas" screening, with more than 250 in attendance. It took like FOREVER to move that audience out of the auditorium, but we managed.

Having no other "responsibilities" for the evening, I actually sat down and watched a film, "American Visa". I absolutely LOVED this film when we first offered it to the jury, and I was certainly anxious to see this film on the BIG screen. I was NOT disappointed. All those in attendance were truly impressed with the quality of this film and the strong storyline.

Again it was time for the "after hour" activity... social activity inspired by alcohol and enjoyment. After a beer, Deirdre and I stopped in at The Funhouse for some music by the Insidious Rays. But the night sped by and I needed some sleep. I walked Deirdre back to her suite and rushed off for the car and home. Friday was already here and I had another early day planned. mmmmm sleep!

Until next time... butter that popcorn, turn down the lights, and crank up the projectors.
