Turning the Page

April 13, 2008 / by southsidefilm

Well, I've had 3 years of having fun blogging about SouthSide Film Festival, and have included journals of my scouting trips to Sundance annually. It seems that my light-handed opinions have offended one, and so I will be moving this blog, or at least changing the names. I will be creating a more "anonymous" moniker to further avoid the wrath of any filmmakers upon the organization SouthSide Film Festival. I have never intended to make this blog "the gospel" in anyway. My opinions are just that: MY OPINIONS, and are not necessarily shared by the SouthSide organization or its other officers.

I find it disheartening that ANY filmmaker could get so upset over a comment like "I just couldn't wrap my head around this". This again is an opinion, and not a career-ending statement or an attack. Each film viewer is entitled to his or her opinion. And that's what blogs are all about: expression. It is a community where opinions are not necessarily agreed upon or shared, but instead it is meant to create interest, and stimulate conversation and debate. Anybody who takes a blog to heart... needs to "find their sense of humor", as I recently heard stated from former Nixon aide John Dean, in response to some student reading a diatribe battering Mr Dean's published books. Come on man, do you think Scorcese attacks every reviewer who has given a less than favorable review? If he had, he'd have been run out of town. Maybe you just need to do better next time around.

In any case, I again apologize to anybody who has been slighted by my comments and entries on this blog. Once I've re-created a new identity, I will post the forwarding address here. In the meantime... how about a sense of humor?

sadly signing off, with my backbone and integrity intact.
